The book is intended for anyone wishing to discover this vast country through the eyes of the person who served as Israel's Consul General to Mid-West India in Mumbai over the past four years. To a large extent, it is also a book about us—about Israel, past and present.

"The Indian National Congress was the equivalent of the Israeli Labor Party, which ruled Israel with a firm hand for over three decades; however, diplomatic relations between the two countries during that period were cold and alienated. Indira Gandhi is the counterpart of Golda Meir: patriotic leaders and among the first women to head a state, although this phenomenon has not repeated itself since—neither in India nor in Israel. Indira and Golda are also tragic figures. While Gandhi rode the wave of success following the 1971 war with Pakistan, Golda was forced to resign after the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
